Naples/Malta, 11 January 2024 – The social promotion association of Naples GuestItaly APS (Italy), the Mediterranean Academy of Culture Technology and Trade of Ta’Xbiex (Malta), and the IPSEOA Roberto Virtuoso of Salerno (Italy) are pleased to announce the launch of the Erasmus+ FUTURE – Fostering sUstainable ToURism new Employees project. The project, financed by the Erasmus+ programme, sees the participation of European partners committed to promoting environmental sustainability in the tourism sector. Last December 20th, the project partners met at the operational headquarters of the GuestItaly APS association in Naples for the first Kick-off meeting which represented the strategic starting point for the coordination of the project activities.

The FUTURE project aims to promote environmental sustainability in multidisciplinary fields, adhering to the objectives of the 2030 Agenda and community strategic directions. The initiative aims to anticipate changes in the workplaces of the future, supporting the green transition towards more sustainable, low-carbon and resource-efficient business models. This will translate into the development of “green” skills and competences in educational institutions and in the world of work.

The specific objectives of the project include:

O1. Promotion of sustainable skills: foster the development of sustainable skills among teachers and students in the VET sector, focusing on aspects such as energy saving, reducing raw material waste and the use of sustainable products in the tourism sector, including catering, hospitality and tour operators.

O2. Social inclusion: involving participants with fewer opportunities, considering factors such as gender, age and socio-economic status, to reduce the risk of social exclusion and offer professional alternatives.

O3. Improving transversal skills: enhancing transversal skills in the design and management of complex projects, offering a European dimension to the three participating organisations, two of which are presenting for the first time a VET Cooperation Partnership proposal of the Erasmus+ programme.

The FUTURE project represents a concrete commitment to contribute to a more sustainable, responsible and innovative future of tourism. The joint efforts of the partners will be fundamental to the success of this initiative and to the achievement of the set objectives.
