The NONFORMAL project aims to:
- Enhance the skills of youth workers using non-formal education methods.
- Promote functional literacy and social inclusion among young people.
- Foster cultural exchange and networking between professionals from Malta, Bulgaria, Turkey, and Poland.

Course Details
📍 Where: Smolyan, Bulgaria
📅 When: January 26 – 30, 2025 (arrival on January 25, departure on January 31).

👥 Who Can Participate: Motivated youth workers with at least intermediate English proficiency, eager to grow in an international context.
💸 Cost: The course is completely free of charge. All travel, accommodation, and meal expenses will be fully covered by NON FORMAL Erasmus+ project.
Training Program
- Day 1: EU Youth Strategies and Active Participation.
- Day 2: Personal and Professional Development through Non-Formal Education.
- Day 3: Status and Recognition of Non-Formal Education in Partner Countries.
- Day 4: Critical Thinking and Civic Engagement.
- Day 5: Bridging Formal and Non-Formal Education.
To ensure a fair and inclusive approach, the selection process for the NONFORMAL Training Course is designed to identify participants who align closely with the project’s goals and demonstrate a genuine commitment to the values of non-formal education. This section outlines the key steps and criteria that will guide the selection of participants, ensuring transparency and equal opportunity for all applicants.
Participants for the NONFORMAL Training Course will be selected based on the following criteria to ensure a diverse and motivated group:
- Interest in the project’s theme: Applicants must demonstrate a clear interest in the topic of non-formal education and youth functional literacy.
- Residence status: Participants must be residents in one Malta.
- Motivation and commitment: A strong motivation to participate and actively engage in the program is essential. This will be assessed through a personal statement provided in the application form.
- English proficiency: Participants should have at least an intermediate level of English (both speaking and writing) to ensure effective communication and participation in group activities.
- Availability: Participants must be fully available and committed to attending the course from January 26 to 30, 2025, including travel days on January 25 and 31.
- Open-mindedness and teamwork: Applicants should demonstrate the ability to work in a multicultural environment and contribute positively to group discussions and activities.
- Preparedness and flexibility: Participants must be willing to adapt to different learning methods, including interactive workshops, group tasks, and cultural exchanges.

Selection process
- Application review: All applications will be reviewed by the MACTT team to evaluate eligibility and alignment with the project’s objectives.
- Shortlisting: Candidates will be shortlisted based on their application responses, motivation, and alignment with the project’s goals.
- Final Selection: Selected participants will be notified by email, and detailed instructions for travel and participation will be provided.
Priority will be given to ensuring a balance of genders and representation from different regions and backgrounds to foster an inclusive and enriching learning environment.
